Pupil Premium & Supporting Disadvantaged Learners
At St Peter’s, we believe that every child is a precious gift from God and we are committed to ensuring that every child, regardless of background or circumstance, has the opportunity to thrive and succeed. We recognise that some children may face additional challenges, and we use our Pupil Premium funding to help remove barriers to learning and provide targeted support where it is needed most.
What is Pupil Premium?
Pupil Premium is additional funding provided by the government to support children who:
- Are eligible for Free School Meals (FSM)
- Have been eligible for FSM at any point in the last six years (Ever 6)
- Are in care or have been adopted from care
- Have parents serving in the armed forces
This funding is designed to help close the attainment gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers.
Our Approach
We believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life. Our strategy for using Pupil Premium is rooted in:
- High-quality teaching for all pupils
- Targeted academic support for those who need it
- Wider strategies to support wellbeing, attendance, and enrichment
We regularly review the impact of our interventions and adapt our approach to meet the evolving needs of our children.
Examples of Support
Pupil Premium funding may be used to:
- Provide additional teaching and learning support
- Offer small group or one-to-one tuition
- Support access to extracurricular activities, trips, and enrichment opportunities
- Fund resources to support learning at home and in school
- Enhance pastoral care and wellbeing initiatives
Working Together
We value the partnership between home and school. If you think your child may be eligible for Pupil Premium, or if you’d like to know more about how we support disadvantaged learners, please contact our school office or speak to a member of our leadership team.
Together, we can ensure every child feels valued, supported, and inspired to achieve their full potential.
